JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineering Advisor

 

Our client requires a Mechanical Engineering Advisor, BSME, 10+ yrs. Mechanical technical support in refining or related industry with a broad knowledge of refinery processes and equipment functions, familiarity with industry codes and standards, problem solving abilities, ability to analyze data, develop conclusions and recommendations for equipment upgrades and work flow improvements, solid understanding of refinery economics. 
The Mechanical Engineering Advisor will ensure that increased refinery reliability is achieved within an agreed upon timeline by accomplishing this through performing unit vulnerability studies, facilitating RCAs on reliability events, performing informal investigations on reliability events, identifying projects that will increase PAR reliability, technically supporting the inspection department on remaining life analysis, fitness for service evaluations, maintaining engineering standards that are current with industry standards. 
The Mechanical Engineering Advisor will perform vulnerability studies on critical units assessing equipment impact on unit shutdown or slowdown, perform or direct formal or informal root cause failure analysis on reliability events, identify, investigate and resolve critical events, which effect the reliability of the site, provide mechanical engineering support to the inspection and corrosion specialists, serve as a technical resource to the mechanical engineering and maintenance groups, manage and maintain individual competencies through a comprehensive training program, which includes trouble-shooting and risk evaluation skills development.
